West Coast Recruiting News

The first half of the July evalaution period is winding down. We have some bits of recruiting news on a few of the players who have been in Southern California this week for the camps and tournaments...

Luke Babbitt, 6-7 JR PF Reno (Calif.) Galena, drew a crowd yesterday morning, as he had coaches from Cal, UCLA, Louisville, Arizona and Gonzaga watching his game. By his standards, Babbitt had just an average game, but he's been outstanding for the last several days in Southern California.

Jrue Holiday, 6-2 JR SG North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall, has the potential to do something amazing just about every time he steps on the court. One of the things coaches have commented on is Holiday's reaction time. He'll drive the lane, miss a shot and, by the time you've registered that he missed the shot, he's back up to the ball tipping it in. He's incredibly quick with his reactions. Holiday had coaches from UCLA, Louisville, Kansas and Cal watching his game yesterday afternoon.

Robert Jones, 6-5 SR PF San Francisco (Calif.) Riordan, has multiple West Coast programs recruiting him. Jones, one of the biggest sleepers in the class, has offers from UC Davis, St. Mary's and San Diego. He's also hearing from UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Portland and Bucknell.

Chris Collinsworth, 6-7 SR SF Provo (Utah) High, has a nice shot to 17-19 feet. He's somewhat in-between a small forward and power forward at this time and it will be interesting to see which way his body goes in the future. He told us he has offers from Washington State, Utah State, Colorado State, Air Force and Utah Valley.

Kenton Walker, 6-8 SR C Scripps Ranch (Calif.) High, is a lefty with a great frame and a nice upside. He said he's hearing from Creighton, Cal, San Diego State, Washington and Illinois.
