Parsons Emerges From Shadow

Chandler Parsons has always played second fiddle to Nick Calathes - whether it be at Lake Howell or with Nike Team Florida. Things have changed now. Parsons has grown - and we're not just talking about his size, either.

In the past, Chandler Parsons has always been in the shadow of his high school and summer teammate, Nick Calathes.

Now Parsons is starting to carve his own identity and college coaches have begun to take notice.

A year ago, Parsons was a fairly one-dimensional 3-point shooter who stood at 6-foot-6 and weighed 160 pounds.

Now, he's 6-8 and 195 pounds and his game is well-rounded. He puts the ball on the floor, finishes around the basket, battles on the glass and also passes the ball well.

``Now I can actually create my own shot," Parsons admits.

Parsons admits things have gotten somewhat out of control since Nike Camp. Prior to July, he had offers from Miami, Arizona State, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, UMass and Indiana. Now LSU, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Oklahoma have joined the fray.

``It's fun, but confusing," Parsons said. "I'm enjoying it."

Parsons said he has already taken an unofficial visit to Arizona State and Miami and he'd like to take trips to LSU, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
