Vaughn Ends Process With Commitment

It's all over. Julian Vaughn will play in the ACC as the frontcourt standout announced his decision on Wednesday. The future Oak Hill frontcourt player picked a program that trailed him coast to coast this past summer.

Julian Vaughn, a 6-foot-9 frontcourt standout who plans to attend Oak Hill Academy this fall, committed to Florida State Wednesday evening.

Vaughn, a Top 50 prospect, surprised the Seminoles with the timing of his commitment. Leonard Hamilton was excited but didn't expect it to happen this soon after the summer.

"I could tell he was surprised," Vaughn said. "I don't think he had any idea that I was going to commit when I was talking to him."

The Seminoles, who hung in there with Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Virginia and Virginia Tech, are getting a versatile inside player who has the ability to extend facing the basket.

"They said that I'll be a combo four-five for them. I'm versatile so I can help them bring it up on the press as a release man. On the trail I can shoot 3s or pass and cut and be a shot blocker on defense."

Vaughn, who ran with adidas Super 64 runner-up D.C. Assault this summer, was excited about the coaching staff who he said trailed him the entire summer. "They came to every single game in Vegas; at camp and everything."

The area which Vaughn hails from has been good to the Seminoles the last 2 years. Hamilton reached into nearby Montrose Christian a season ago when he landed Uche Echefu.
