We spoke with Kevin about his recruitment, and he said that he has some other priorities right now. "My first business is to take care of business in the classroom," Bell said. "I took the SAT in June and didn't pass, so I'm taking classes right now for it. I have a 2.5 GPA, but I'm taking night school classes this summer so I can improve it. I just feel that I need to get qualified before I think too much about schools. I'll get qualified, then take visits to the schools I like, and then think about committing. I don't think I'd commit before taking care of the academics."
Bell did say, though, that even while no schools have offered him a scholarship, he has heard from many that interest him.
"I don't have a favorite. My options are really open at this point. I've heard from UConn, and I really like them a lot. Then there's Pepperdine, Washington, Oregon, DePaul, San Diego and Nebraska. I like all of them."
Bell said that he's probably heard the most from Nebraska, Washington, Pepperdine and San Diego – along with Utah. "They're probably recruiting me the hardest. Pepperdine, Nebraska, Utah and San Diego came by the school to see me work out in spring."
Bell said he has no problem with leaving the west coast. "I Love my home, but sometimes I think I could be stronger on my own," he said.
