Jeff Jones Will Play in ACC

When Jeff Jones opted to de-commit from Maryland, the Monsignor Bonner (Pa.) 6-foot-4 senior shooting guard still knew he wanted to play in the ACC. Jones got his wish and Friday morning he finalized the plans.

Jeff Jones will still play in the ACC.

The Monsignor Bonner (Pa.) 6-foot-4, 190-pound senior guard, who re-opened his recruitment months ago after committing to Maryland, has given Virginia coach Dave Leitao a pledge.

``It's a great situation," Jones said. "There aren't any negatives at all when I look at it."

``The last time I committed I had a feeling it was right, but now I'm 110 percent sure it is right," he added.

Jones is a big-time scorer who can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. He's strong enough to get to the bucket and finish – and can also make shots from the perimeter. It's likely that the Cavaliers staff sees Jones as the replacement for J.R. Reynolds – who is a senior this year.

``They're looking for someone to come in and take J.R.'s spot," Jones said. "Coach Leitao told me that's what he needs me to do."

Jones was also considering Wake Forest, Boston College and Charlotte.

``I have a great relationship with all of the coaches at Virginia," Jones said. "I can really see myself with them for four years. Virginia is a program on the rise and I want to be a part of that."
