Stitt Sees Enough, Makes Pledge

Demontez Stitt had an idea where he wanted to go. On Saturday, he took an unofficial visit that confirmed his own suspicions. Now he's a member of an ACC program.

The Clemson Tigers were diligent in their work this summer. We observed them in countless gyms evaluating point guard prospects at all levels. After the summer ended, the Tigers and Coach Oliver Purnell had locked in on one particular prospect: Demontez Stitt.

On Saturday, the 6-foot-2 point guard out of Matthews (N.C.) Butler picked the Tigers after hearing from Charlotte, Georgia Tech (no offer), Virginia Tech, Penn State, Georgia and George Mason.

"My main reason for committing today was that I really had a clue in my mind before I came down here of where I wanted to go," Stitt said. "This is the best situation for me as far as being needed at Clemson. I may have a chance to start in the ACC and I like Clemson. It's not too far from home and it's relatively close."

Stitt drove from the nearby Charlotte area to Clemson and committed to the Tigers before leaving campus. For him, it simply was the proper fit. "Everything that they showed me today was right on point. The thing that pushed me over the edge was the interest that they showed me. They were one of the first schools to recruit me and everything that they showed me made sense."
