Ask college coaches about Brian McFadden, 5-11 SR PG Lakewood (Calif.) Mayfair, and the word that invariably comes up is "tough." Nearly every coach we've spoken with in the last couple weeks has had high praise for McFadden. He's not a great athlete, but he's quicker than you think, a good defender and he can knock down an open shot.
We spoke with McFadden yesterday and he told us his top five schools at this point are St. Mary's, Pacific, American, USF and Yale.
We asked if he had any geographical preference and McFadden said, "I'd like to stay close to home if possible, but I'll go away if I have to." McFadden also said he'd like to get some early time, but doesn't view it as a major factor in his decision.
When questioned about other issues impacting his choice, McFadden said, "I'd like to play in a system where they get up and down -- play with guys who can run with me."
McFadden said he has a 3.6 GPA and scored 930 on the SAT.
He plans on taking some trips after schools starts and hopes to have a fall decision.
