McGhee Headed to Big East

Gary McGhee grew up as an Indiana fan, but the 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior big man out of Anderson Highland (Ind.) opted to leave Big Ten country and the developing center is headed to the Big East.

Gary McGhee, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior out of Indiana, committed to Pittsburgh during a visit to the campus this weekend, according to sources close to the situation.

McGhee, who played with the SYF Players this past summer, chose the Panthers over Wisconsin and Indiana.

McGhee is a guy who has worked to get his body in better shape this past summer and played well on a talented SYF Players squad.

He's still developing offensively, but he'll give Jamie Dixon and the Panthers staff a big body who rebounds - as shown by his state-leading 13.1 boards per game last season - and someone who can score in the paint.
