Pump All-Stars Win Big

Marcus Slaughter, Jordan Farmar and Evan Moore lead the Double Pump All-Stars to the Championship of the Best of Summer tourney, upsetting the Long Island Panthers...

A Pump team finally won a big tournament. Their own, in fact. And it took the #2 Pump team to do it.

The Double Pump All-Stars beat one of the best AAU teams in the nation, the Long Island Panthers, in the final of the Best of Summer Tournament, 74-60, Wednesday night.

The Pumps were led by Marcus Slaughter, 6-8 SR PF, Riverside (Calif.) North, who scored 20 points. He also did a great job of shutting down the Panthers' Charlie Villanueva, the 6-9 SF that many feel will jump directly to the NBA from high school next spring.

Jordan Farmar, 6-0 JR PG, Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, was also a strong contributor in the big victory. Farmar, a very skilled, young point guard, did like he always does -- he made great decisions, didn't make many mistakes and put his teammates in a position to score.

Evan Moore, 6-6 SR PF, Brea (Calif.) Brea-Olinda also had 12 points and did a great job under the boards fighting off the athletic Panthers.
