2004's McClellan Reaches Decision

There are kids who think they can score and then there are kids who know they can score. Jawann McClellan can flat out score and the rising junior from Houston (TX) Milby has picked a school where he'll eventually take that scoring package.

Arizona Lands Wing Talent

The national attention came after a super performance at the Houston Kingwood Classic. That's when the wheels were set in motion for the culmination of a dream. TheInsidersHoops.com has learned that 6-5 Houston (TX) Milby Jawann McClellan committed to Arizona this week.

"It's a dream come true," McClellan said. "I can't do any better. Lute Olson, all of his wings and guard go to the league. With the Pac-10 you get to travel to all the beautiful cities."

McClellan said that he consider Arizona and Texas the hardest. Florida was trying to get involved as well. "It came down to Arizona and Texas. I've wanted to go there since the 5th or 6th grade. We were already far in the process [with Arizona]. Texas was trying to get Daniel Gibson and Jason Horton and LaMarcus Aldridge. It was too late then."

Last year, McClellan averaged 22 points a game. He's a terrific scorer who has one of the best scoring packages we've seen all summer. "Some people have 3-point range but most don't have the mid-range game. Some can't pullup. They have to go all the way to the basket. Coach Olson saw that I made good decisions and don't turn the ball over that much."
