Johnson Eyeballing A Handful

Aaron Johnson is settling into the recruiting process. He's got his list trimmed up and he's gauging the interest of schools that are committed to recruiting him.

Chicago Hubbard standout point guard Aaron Johnson is working on his recruiting scenario this month. The 5-foot-7 tough minded point man has a short list with a few strong options.

As it stands, Johnson has offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Fairfield and Wisconsin-Green Bay; his top 3 schools.

"I did an unofficial to Fairfield a few weeks ago," Johnson said. "I did an unofficial to Wisconsin-Green Bay and I'm in the process of setting up a visit with UAB right now. They're coming down for a home visit the next Saturday coming up and I might do a visit down to Akron."

Loyola and Evansville have been calling but his relationship with those programs hasn't escalated as far as it has with the others on his list.

Johnson's one of those kids who relishes in people writing him off as a small point guard. This spring he was instrumental in the Illinois Warriors championship run at The Real Deal On The Hill. His reputation is that of a guard willing to put team first.

"The size thing … they say what they want," Johnson chuckled. "When I play its all heart and size doesn't matter and that's what I try to show."

The young man is happy with his current list and this month should prove to be key for him.

"What's important to me is me playing. A lot of coaches are looking at my size and they're backing off. I'm just about finding a place that is going to let me play. I would like to go to a high-major or somewhat of a high-major but with the schools I've got I'm satisfied and I'm lucky to be recruited by them."
