Maurice Miller to ACC

Maurice Miller felt like he found the perfect fit this past weekend on his visit. The Raleigh Egypt (Tenn.) senior floor leader wanted a combination of academics and basketball - and that's why he pulled the trigger.

Maurice Miller didn't see the need to go on any more visits after his trip to Atlanta. The Raleigh Egypt (Tenn.) 6-foot-2 senior point guard committed to Georgia Tech this morning.

``It has the total package," Miller said. "It's a great area and it has everything I need as far as academics and basketball. Coach (Paul) Hewitt is one of the best coaches in the country and the players really made me feel at home. They acted like they really wanted me there and they treated me like I've known them forever."

Miller (, No. 90) joins a Yellow Jackets class that also includes forward Gani Lawal and wing Lance Storrs.

``The majority of the team is young, so I'll be playing with everyone there except one person (Mario West)," Miller said. "We've got a chance to do something special, especially with Gani and Lance coming in."

Miller was slated to visit Ole Miss this coming weekend and he also had trips lined up to LSU and Oklahoma for later this month.

``The players told me how difficult Georgia Tech is academically and that it's no walkover," Miller said. "It'll get you to the next level and even if you don't make it in basketball, it'll help you get a good job."

Miller said that he had a terrific time this weekend despite the fact that the Yellow Jackets couldn't pull off the upset against No. 2 Notre Dame.

``It was sold out and I've never been to a football game with that kind of intensity," he said. "College Gameday was amazing."
