Chapman Staying West

Clint Chapman rose up the charts quickly over the summer despite getting manhandled by Kevin Love in his ABCD debut. Chapman rebounded nicely - and now the Canby High (Ore.) 6-foot-10, 235-pound senior is headed to a big-time program.

Clint Chapman likes challenges and that's why he's headed to Austin.

The Longhorns added the big man out of Oregon after he took an unofficial visit to Austin this past weekend.

``I loved everything about Texas," Chapman said. "The facilities, the players, the coaches. Everything was great."

``I know it's going to be a challenge at Texas and it's going to be tough, but I think it'll make me the best player I can be in the long run."

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Chapman skyrocketed up the rankings after a production and impressive summer. Chapman proved he can score in the paint and also showed the ability to step away from the basket and make shots from mid-range.

He took an unofficial visit to Arizona State on Thursday and then headed directly to Austin from Tempe for a couple of days.

The Canby High (Ore.) senior, who is ranked 49th in the country by Scout.com, also considered Oregon, California, Nevada, Washington and Oklahoma.

``They are all great programs, but I just fell in love with Texas when I got there," Chapman said.
