Texas Does Two-Step

One day after receiving a commitment from big man Clint Chapman, the Texas Longhorns nabbed another frontcourt player: Cameroon native Alexis Wangmene, who played in San Antonio last year before moving to Blair Academy this season.

Texas did the two-step.

On the same weekend the Longhorns landed big man Clint Chapman, Rick Barnes and his staff also added another frontcourt player in the senior class: Cameroon native Alexis Wangmene. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound Wangmene, who is transferring from San Antonio Central Catholic (Texas) to Blair Academy (N.J.), also pulled the trigger for the Longhorns.

``I got a chance to be around the people at Texas and I know a lot of the first people I met when I came here ended up going to Texas," Wangmene said. "I want to play with good players, because that will make me better."

``It was a very difficult decision between Texas and Virginia," Wangmene said. "Virginia is a real good school with good coaches and good people. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make in my life."

The hard-working Cameroon native, whose biggest strengths are his rebounding ability and defense, also looked at Florida.
