Butler Picks Up Perimeter Standout
Last season, Robinson (IL) High's Nick Brooks averaged 23 points a game. He'll take that scoring average to Butler University in the fall of 2003.
"I knew I was going to go there for a while so I decided that I would commit," Brooks told TheInsidersHoops.com.
Brooks said that Butler recruited him as a shooting guard and that helped him make a decision. "I wanted to get somewhere that I could play. As far as I know, everyone else had me as a three [small forward]."
Obviously, Butler's had some NCAA Tournament history the past few years so that didn't hurt either. "It wasn't real important but it helped knowing that they are a decent basketball team," Brooks said. Yeah, they are pretty decent, Nick.
With Brooks set to be a Bulldog, expect second-year head coach Todd Lickliter to continue his search for a point guard and we think it's a safe assumption that Butler will also try and get bigger with one of its remaining scholarships.
