Blair Moving Forward With Smaller List

Things are moving along for DeJuan Blair, but for the most the process is at his pace. With one visit scheduled, Blair says he's got his eyes on a pair.

Pittsburgh Schenley power forward DeJuan Blair ( No. 44) is visiting Kansas State the weekend of Sept. 23 along with teammate D.J. Kennedy. The Wildcats, as everyone who has a pulse on the situation will tell you, figure to be a major player in his recruitment.

However, as of Wednesday night, they aren't the leader. The Hoosiers are on his mind too. "Indiana, I just like the way their coming to me," Blair said. "Indiana then Tennessee second (are the favorites). Those are good schools. I like both of them and everybody else is still in my Top 5."

Everybody else means Kansas State, Pittsburgh and to a degree Miami though the Hurricanes haven't done much with him since July. Ditto for Florida.

We expect Blair to make the visit to Manhattan and then trip to Indiana shortly thereafter but in the immediate future, he's setting up home visits. "I'm waiting for the home visits first," Blair said. "Bob Huggins is coming on Sunday, Indiana is coming on Monday and Pittsburgh is coming Saturday, the first day."

The Panthers are in the mix but Blair may not be sold on staying home. "It'll be like any other AAU trip but it'll be longer," Blair said if he leaves Pittsburgh. "I like Pitt but I'm not sure I want to stay home. That might be too much pressure for me."

So what's he looking for? "I just want to have a good education. I want to go to a great program where we can go somewhere for a national championship and I can come in and start. I'll try my hardest to get to the NBA from the program that I'm coming from."
