Long List For Larry Drew

Larry Drew, Jr. has crossed one local, elite program off his list, but there will be plenty of others for him to choose from. Several of the top programs in the country are expected to visit Drew at his school in the near future...

Larry Drew, Jr., 6-0 JR PG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, is an elite prospect and one of the best point guards in the country.

We spoke with Drew recently and asked him which programs have been recruiting him the hardest.

"Well, it was UCLA, until they took a commitment from Jerime (Anderson)," said Drew. "I'm hearing from North Carolina. Gonzaga came to see me today and Washington came in yesterday. My coach said a lot of schools are coming in over the next couple days – maybe Louisville, Florida, Stanford, Cal, Arizona. USC is starting to recruit me."

We asked if he has a favorite.

"UCLA was probably the favorite, because they're in my backyard," said Drew. "But they're all pretty much in a bunch right now."

We asked Drew if he considered committing early to UCLA or if he had planned all along on waiting it out.

"No, I was pretty determined to wait it out," said Drew.

Drew said he doesn't really have a geographical preference.

"I'll go pretty much anywhere in the country," said Drew.

When questioned about when he might cut down his list, Drew replied, "I'll probably get it down to a manageable list sometime around the beginning of the season. Maybe around five schools."
