2008 Intro: Wendell Wright

Wendell Wright, a 6-4 junior wing from Southern California, has made impressive progress over the last year. He tells us that he's hearing from schools in the WCC, Big 12, Mountain West and Pac-10....

Wendell Wright, 6-4 JR SG/SF Lakewood (Calif.) Mayfair, is a good-looking young prospect with a high upside. Wright has a very good basketball body and he's grown several inches over the last couple years.

We spoke with Wright over the weekend and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him to date.

"UNLV, Pepperdine, Iowa State, Arizona State and Gonzaga are the main ones," said Wright.

When we asked him if he had a feel for which school has been recruiting him the hardest, Wright replied, "probably UNLV and Pepperdine."

Wright talked a little about what he is looking for in a school.

"The coaching, the facilities and environment," said Wright. "Early playing time isn't an issue."

We asked Wright if he has given any thought to a particular location.

"I'll probably stay on the West Coast," said Wright.

When questioned about the timing of his decision, Wright said, "I want to get it done before my senior year starts."

Wright told us that he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
