Thomas Headed To Flyers

Steven Thomas, a standout point guard from Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral, is headed to the Atlantic-10.

Brian Gregory and the Dayton Flyers have made their move again with a member of the Class of 2008. Stephen Thomas, a 6-foot point guard out of Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral, picked the Flyers after considering Marshall and SMU.

Part of Gregory's allure and success as a recruiter came in relationship building and he and his staff formed a bond with Thomas.

"Everybody that I dealt with was really good but I really developed a relationship early with Coach Gregory and I felt really comfortable which helped me make my decision," Thomas said.

The Cathedral standout drew increased recruiting attention when he and Jeff Teague helped the Spiece Indy Heat deep into the tournament at the July Big Time in Vegas.

In committing he joins a very good Flyers recruiting class highlighted by Scout.com's No. 50 recruit Chris Wright and bolstered inside by power forward/center Devin Searcy who is a product of the staff's footprint in the state of Michigan.

Last year, Thomas averaged 17 points and 5 assists.

"They always tell me that what they struggle with is a true point guard that can run the team, pass and be a threat to shoot. I figure they'll have me out there and playing as a threat to shoot."
