Jake Pullen Big 12-Bound

Jake Pullen felt as though he has been overlooked. He won plenty of games at Proviso East (Ill.) and then the senior point guard won more games this spring and summer. When one big-time coach came calling, it was difficult to wait any longer.

Jacob Pullen always felt he was overlooked. Bob Huggins agrees.

The Proviso East (Ill.) senior guard committed to the new Kansas State coach on Saturday.

``It was a long time coming," Pullen said. "It was real exciting for me."

Pullen also considered Oklahoma, St. Louis and UAB. He also looked at Dayton, but the Flyers received a commitment from Stephen Thomas earlier this week.

Pullen was slated to take an official visit to Manhattan, Kan., in a few weeks - but he didn't want to wait any longer.

``Coach Huggins has a legacy and I really wanted to play for him," Pullen said. "He's got a great track record with guards."

``I watched his teams at Cincinnati and I think it's my type of style," he added. "He wants to push the ball and that fits me."

Pullen said that the fact that Huggins already has a pledge from Michael Beasley - and is close to landing Bill Walker and DeJuan Blair - played into his decision.

``All of us can come right in and make an impact," Pullen said. "I played with some really good players up front at the Nike Camp and those guys would make it easier for me."
