And now if you're a diehard Seminoles basketball fan, the hits continue to come.
"Montverde Academy is proud to announce that Solomon Alabi has announced that he has committed FSU," Montverde head coach Kevin Sutton said in a released statement. "Solomon is very happy with his decision.
"It was hard decision as he had three great schools to choose from in Virginia, Arizona and FSU. I am very proud of how well Solomon handled the recruiting process. His decision was arrived at after a lot of conversations, and the careful notes that he kept on each school. This enabled him to make an educated and intelligent decision. He continues to impress me."
What's impressive is the talent pool in the frontcourt that Florida State has assembled under Leonard Hamilton.
Since 2005, the Seminoles have signed a Scout.com Top 100 prospect for its interior in each season. In fact, of the 5 Seminole big men signees in the Top 100 during that time, 2 of them were Top 50 prospects and four of them were rated at one time or another in the Top 50 by Scout.com.
Alabi was the darling of the summer circuit as he went from part-time player last season at Montverde to full-time defensive dominator of the Nike All-American Camp. Mix in a much improved offensive game and Alabi made his way into the Scout.com Top 50 at No. 42. He'll team with Vaughn (No. 52) to comprise what should be one of the better tandems in the ACC.
