Sims Explodes In July
Before he left for the Nike All-American Camp, Roslindale (MA) Noble and Greenough center Courtney Sims needed just one hand to count scholarship offers from Providence, Boston U., Rhode Island and William & Mary.
After July, he needed two hands.
"I knew I was good and that I would be recruited," Sims said. "I guess I expected it. It was just that I wasn't exposed nationally." Now he is.
Currently, his list reads Providence, Syracuse, North Carolina, Maryland, Indiana, Michigan, Memphis, Boston College and UConn. "I got my list down a little. It's still wide open though. I'm trying to decide right now about all [the visits]."
Sims is going to take at least two unofficial visits this month. He's going to UConn on August 9 and Boston College on Aug. 12. No official visits have been arranged at this time.
Sims "blew up" at Nike Camp. However, he saw that some adjustments needed to be made and went about his business accordingly. "In the first few days I didn't do that good. I was getting my shots tip blocked and I had to adapt. I wasn't used to playing people my size. There was one game; the second game we played on Monday and I had to have like 25. That's when I started thinking I could be a dominant player."
And that's when they started coming in droves.
"I would see some of the same coaches at my games. After that breakout game at Nike Camp, I saw a lot of different coaches."
