"There were three major factors involved in my decision," Johnson said. "First, I wanted to play in front of my family. Second, after I travelled the country (last summer) playing basketball, I realized I wanted to play in front of those who really supported me -- the people in the Hug community. And, third, Reno is my home and the coaching staff at Nevada showed they really believed in me."
Johnson had moved twice to Harrisburg, Penn. and Oakland, Calif., but returned to Reno in August.
"This is where my mom and I feel the most comfortable," Johnson said. "This is home. This is where I wanted to be, playing for the people who have always supported me."
