Stewart Makes SEC Choice

When the Wildcats come calling and bring you in for Midnight Madness it's tough to say no. A.J. Stewart couldn't.

There will be no visit to Illinois this week for A.J. Stewart. The power forward out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day, committed to Kentucky briefly after returning home from his official visit.

"They set a record for their practice with 23,000 and he's been impressed with Kentucky," ACD coach and former NBA player Rex Morgan said. "We've been at the Marshall County Hoopfest and he saw real basketball fans in Kentucky and liked it a lot."

Kentucky locked down this Top 100 player whom Morgan sees as a kid with a big ceiling. "I think everything is an upside for him. He can (eventually) weigh 230-235; he needs to get stronger and work on his skills but he's shooting it better than he was this summer. A.J. needs to go in there and play hard and he'll be fine."

Stewart, who averaged 13 and 11 on a team with 5 kids in double-figures, was the MVP of last year's Florida state title game.
