Wow! Another 2008 Stud Decides!

Chris Braswell, one of's Pre-Season Top 25 juniors, took himself off the board Monday night. After meeting with a certain Big East program, Braswell reached his decision.

In case you haven't been paying a lick of attention to college basketball recruiting, the Georgetown Hoyas are back and they're coming back in a big way.

Aside from recruiting an elite level backcourt from the Class of 2007, John Thompson III now has a valuable piece from the Class of 2008. Chris Braswell, a 6-foot-8 ½ power forward out of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic, is ranked No. 17 in the pre-season Top 25.

On Monday night, after meeting with the Georgetown staff, Braswell committed to the Hoyas. Syracuse, Connecticut, Texas and Villanova were just a sampling of the interested parties.

"It feels good to have it over with and get it out of the way," Braswell said. "Actually, it feels great."

The Hoyas are selling a return to past dominance and right now recruits are buying it consistently as the Hoyas are in the process of stringing together multiple deep recruiting classes.

"Basically they said that it went down and they're trying to get back on the map," Braswell said of the program.

Braswell's AAU coach Keith Stevens of Triple Threat said his player knew a few days ago but wanted to make 100% sure of his decision. "The game plan was to do all unofficial visits now and make a decision in the spring," Stevens said.

"Austin Freeman and those guys committed (already) but Chris wanted to meet with the coaches and sat on (the decision). They told him who they were recruiting and that they were going to follow him and stay on top of his grades. At that point, he told them he was coming."

Braswell indicated that his family would be able to see the bulk of his games and that weighed in his decision. Stevens said it was more than mere proximity. "He just wanted to be close to home and Kevin Broadus did a helluva job building that relationship."
