Western Kentucky Scores Guard

Darrin Horn and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers picked up a commitment from a junior wing player.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are now part of a growing club. Darrin Horn's team is the owner of a commitment from the Class of 2008.

Over the weekend, Ron Waller, a shooting guard out of O'Fallon (Mo.) Fort Zumwalt West, pledged allegiance to the Sun Belt program. He had been receiving interest from Missouri State, St. Louis, Illinois State and Southern Illinois.

However, the Hilltoppers tugged at his family ties and his approach to the game.

The 6-foot-3 Waller's father was a football player at Western Kentucky, making him a second generation Hilltopper. If that wasn't enough, Waller fell for WKU's approach to the game.

"I watched a practice and it was very intense and that's how I like to play," Waller said. "I can get better down there."

Last season, Waller averaged 12.5 points as a sophomore. He runs with the St. Louis Eagles AAU organization.
