"James, he's pretty close," Hammett said "Naturally he wants to do it by next week. It could happen before then but right now I think unless something changes he doesn't want to let it out until the signing date."
Recently, Anderson lopped two schools from his list. Florida and Arkansas couldn't keep pace with Oklahoma State and Kansas. "Those were behind," Hammett said. "He didn't officially (rule them out) but we did tell them he narrowed it to those two."
In recruiting speak, Arkansas and Florida are essentially no longer in the picture.
So, where does that leave the process? "I think he's close but only James know that right now," Hammett said. The coach did not think that Anderson has decided already but acknowledges the end is near.
"He liked all four schools that he visited. Some of them, the two at the top of his list, he was a little more comfortable with the setting. All of that is important and I know this may sound weird but both towns – Lawrence and Stillwater – are a lot bigger than Junction City but have similarities to where he's from."
Anderson is Scout.com's No. 24 prospect in the country and its 4th rated small forward.
