Enrico Tucker, 5-11 JR PG San Diego (Calif.) University, has committed to San Diego, according to a press release we received this afternoon. Here is the press release we received.
Enrico Tucker, a rising junior at the University of San Diego High School has accepted a basketball scholarship to attend the University of San Diego
beginning in the 2004-2005 school year.
Tucker, a 6-00 point guard, was a 1st Team All-Western League selection last year and is a 2-year varsity starter. This past season, he averaged 18.2 points
and 6 assists per game for USDHS. In Tucker's freshman year, he was chosen the San Diego Newcomer of the Year by the San Diego Union-Tribune while leading
the Bishop's School to the Division 4 CIF San Diego Section Championship.
"The situation is perfect," Tucker said. "I could start as a freshman and I want to be a part of building something special here in San Diego. Coach Holland attended every game I played during July from outdoors in New Jersey, to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Coach Holland told me I was the cornerstone of what they are going to accomplish at USD, and that he would stop recruiting any point guards in the 2003 class if I was coming in 2004."
As a two-sport athlete, Tucker rushed for over 1700 yards on the gridiron this past year, and was also selected to the All-State Sophomore Team by Cal-Hi Sports. Tucker, now becomes the first member of the Southern California Basketball Class of 2004 to commit to a college.
This past summer, Tucker, was selected to the Top 25 All-Star Game at the Fullcourt Press All-West Camp, and he was also chosen an All-Star at the Eastern
Invitational Camp in New Jersey. Tucker carries a 3.2 overall G.P.A. and has yet to take the SAT's. He will sign a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of San Diego during the early signing period in November, 2003.
