Gophers Land 2004 Center

The Minnesota Golden Gophers moved swiftly to lock up one of the top in-state prospects. The Star Tribune's Jeff Shelman reported on Wednesday that Spencer Tollackson is a Gopher.

2004 Center To Minnesota

Dan Monson has himself a commitment from the Class of 2004. On Wednesday, Spencer Tollackson of Chaska High made it official as a rising junior can: he's going to Minnesota.

"I'm really happy," Tollackson told the Star Tribune. "It's where I always wanted to go. As a little kid, I always knew that's where I wanted to play."

Last month, the 6-9, 250 pounder played at the Nike All-American Camp. He showed good promise with a bevy of post moves and did a nice job of blocking shots.

Last year, he scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Tollackson was a 61% shooter from the field. For his efforts, he was named second-team all-state by the Associated Press. Keep in mind, he was just a sophomore.

Tollackson owns the single-season scoring record at his high school. His career high game is 41 points and he once pulled down 17 rebounds in a contest.
