Allen Finds A-10 Home

Temple fired the first shot across the bow Wednesday morning. Fran Dunphy's team picked up a signing day pledge from a top available local big man.

Lavoy Allen is going to Temple. That means the Fairless Hills (Pa.) Pennsbury senior passed on offers from Rutgers, St. Joe's and LaSalle, according to AAU coach Lonnie Lowry.

"I knew went down there and had a real good time. Martavis Kee was there and they started talking. He really liked the atmosphere."

The 6-foot-8 Allen had been one of the biggest and top available players left on the recruiting board. Those who know him feel like his best if not most consistent basketball will come at the college level.

"He's a tremendous rebounder and finisher," Lowry said. "He knows how to block shots and he's unselfish."

The Owls now own pledges from Lavoy Allen, Kee and big man Michael Eric.
