Rebels Add Willis
Rod Barnes and the Rebels from Mississippi are on the board. They landed Emanuel Willis, a 6-8 power forward from Mendenhall (MS) High.
Willis loves the Rebels and the burden of going through the recruiting process was starting to take its toll on him. "One thing, I'm tired of all these coaches calling my house," Willis said. "I like Coach Barnes; he's a good coach and a Christian guy. I love the SEC."
Willis said he received interest from Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Cincinnati, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Middle Tennessee, UAB and South Alabama.
Last year, he averaged 14 points for Mendenhall. He said that in 15 games, he recorded 99 blocks.
"I'm Top 50," Willis said. "A lot of people haven't seen me play." We caught a quick glimpse of Willis at the Houston Kingwood Classic when he played alongside Warren Scott on the Mississippi Panthers. He's a good athlete who really runs well.
"I can shoot it," Willis said. "I mostly play down low and I don't get to show what I can do. Nobody in this area has seen me shoot outside but I can shoot it. I do need to improve on that."
