Hunter's Recruitment On The Rise

How cool would it be to eat anything you wanted, all the time? Meet Vincent Hunter. The 6-9 forward is finishing up his summer on a diet of chicken and pizza in an attempt to add weight for the coming season and his college career.

Tennessee Has Edge Right Now

We first saw Vincent Hunter at the AAU Nationals last month. Upon turning the corner and seeing the wiry 6-9 forward, the first thought that came to mind was Jonathan Bender. Physically and facially, he looks like the Pacers forward.

"I get that a lot," Hunter said.

Hunter is a good looking athlete who blocks shots and can step outside. However, like Bender he needs to add weight to his frame. Many schools are suggesting a redshirt year for him and that might even be the best scenario.

"You are right [about the redshirt] in a way," Hunter said. "But, I'm working on my strength right now. I'm trying to get big, it's just not happening. I might look skinny but my weight is 200 pounds. I eat whatever I want."

Right now, his diet is filled with chicken and pizza – his two current favorites.

Speaking of favorites, Hunter has one. "I'm thinking a lot about Tennessee. They have a good program up there. It's a place where I can play. Most of the other coaches are talking about redshirting. I'm not trying to redshirt. I want to show what I got."

Last year, Hunter averaged 20 points a game at Little Rock (AR) Fair High.

Following a nice showing at the AAU Nationals, Hunter's recruitment has reached a new level. DePaul, Tennessee, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas are on him. He says that most have offered. He is waiting on a test score at the present time.

"It's been crazy. I like all of the attention that I'm getting. I just don't know what I'm going to do."
