Brooks Breaks For Big Ten

Jeff Brooks made a signing day decision that gave one Big Ten program a strong end to the early signing period.

Ed DeChellis has got to be excited about his signing day addition of Jeff Brooks. However, his excitement trails that of the 6-foot-8 forward out of Louisville (Ky.) Doss.

Brooks selected Penn State over Arkansas. "Really I realized when I met the coaches," Brooks said of his choice. "They showed a lot of support, they came to see me all the time. They broke their necks to come see me. It was a great situation."

Brooks heated up his own recruitment last summer with a series of positive outings on the AAU circuit. From there his reputation grew as colleges rallied to try and get involved. Penn State, with its addition of guard Talor Battle, did well for itself to lock down Brooks.

When Brooks got onto State College's campus, he felt something different. "The atmosphere and the Big Ten. The fans up there … it's going to be a great experience up there. I cannot wait.

"It's going to be a new experience. It's a power conference and it's going to be fun. It'll be hard but it'll be a great experience."
