"He had such a big tournament that all kinds of schools were jumping in the fray," Mike Mahoney, Stoneridge Prep's director told Scout.com. "He averaged close to 20 points a game and was MVP."
Boozer, whose brother is NBA standout Carlos Boozer, played last season at Leesville Road High in Raleigh. He is taking a post-graduate season at Stoneridge Prep.
Boozer moved to Raleigh, N.C., when his brother picked the Duke Blue Devils. He received interest from UNC-Greensboro and Appalachian State as a senior. According to Mahoney, Pepperdine, Lamar and Loyola-Chicago offered him this season.
"He plays so hard, he's just a kid that really gets everyone else to play hard with him and from a coaching standpoint that's something you love. He's extremely athletic.
"The knock was he couldn't shoot it that well but he's really worked hard on his game and he'll play some (point guard) too when Angelo Johnson comes out of the game. We like the Iowa State people and it's a real good fit for everyone involved."
