Fazekas Likes Six

Nick Fazekas' first exposure on the national scene came at USA Basketball. After a long summer of hoops across the country, he's managed to attract interest from a number of programs.

Six Schools In The Running

Arvada (CO) Ralston Valley power forward Nick Fazekas, a 6-10 big man, is currently listing six schools. Marquette, Utah, Fresno State, Louisiana State, Kansas State and California are on his short list. Cal and Utah are definitely planning on stopping by his home; surely the others are likely to follow suit.

"I don't have a leader," Fazekas said. "All six of those are pretty much all even."

Fazekas is a skilled player, no doubt about that. With his body size and lack of strength, a red shirt year has been tossed around but that's not what he plans on doing as a freshman. Right now, that interests him little.

"Most of the schools I've talked to said they were graduating a senior and I would play as a freshman. I don't want to red shirt at all."

"I don't like to sit the bench at all."

Nick's recruitment takes on different meaning depending on the school. However, he's not that concerned with what position he plays in the lineup. "A few are recruiting me as a center and some as a power forward. It wouldn't matter to me as long as I could still step out and shoot the ball. A lot of colleges like my touch."

Like we said, this summer was Fazekas' first look into the AAU and camp scene. So, what did he learn? "I learned that I probably need to get a lot bigger and stronger. I need a little bit better vertical and stuff like that. It seemed to me like I could score on anyone."
