Leader Emerges Heading Into Visits

Lakewood (CA) Mayfair's Justin Hawkins has trimmed his list to three programs. He's already set up his visits and a slight leader has emerged.

Utah Has Edge Heading Into Visits

Justin Hawkins, a 6-6 small forward from Mayfair has slashed his list to just three schools. Notre Dame, Marquette and Utah remain.

Hawkins will visit Notre Dame Sept. 13, Marquette on the 20th and Utah on Sept. 27. "Mainly, I really want to visit Notre Dame and Marquette to see what the school is like to find out about the coaches and what the team is like," Hawkins said. "I know a lot about Utah."

Hawkins, a member of the L.A. Rockfish, knows a lot about Utah because they landed a few of his Rockfish teammates the last couple of seasons. With that said, Utah holds a slight lead.

"It's not all because of [the Rockfish]," Hawkins said. "A lot of it has to do with Majerus and the style he coaches and the way they play."

Hawkins' role at Mayfair changed quite a bit as a junior. Edwin Draughan left for Yale where he had a great year and Josh Childress bolted for Stanford. "I was trying to make a name for myself last year. Now, I pretty much have my own identity. They don't try to compare and say stuff anymore."
