2008 Introduction: Garrett Sim

Garret Sim, a junior guard from Oregon, is relatively unknown outside of the west. That figures to change next spring and summer, as he's among the better guard prospects in the west for the class of 2008...

Garrett Sim, 6-0 JR PG/SG Portland (Ore.) Sunset, is a talented prospect with an excellent feel for the game. A very good shooter, Sim has the potential to play the one or two in college.

We spoke with Sim recently and he gave us a list of schools that have been expressing early interest.

"Boise State and Portland have offered," said Sim. "Oregon State, Washington State, Stanford, Portland State and Montana are the other ones I'm hearing from so far."

We asked Sim about the issues he'll consider when choosing a school.

"I think for me the coaching staff will be big," said Sim. "How I mesh with the coaches."

We asked Sim if location or early playing time are important to him.

"The location doesn't really matter," said Sim. "As for early time, you always want to play and I'd like to be able to help the team early. But it's not real important."

Sim said he doesn't see himself making a decision anytime soon.

"I'm not really in a rush," said Sim. "I'm going to wait awhile, because I think this will be a big year for me."

Sim said he doesn't have a leader.

"They're all in the mix right now," said Sim.

Sim has taken unofficial visits to Washington State, Oregon State, Portland and Portland State. He told us he currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.7.
