Summer Hero To Ball State
Peyton Stovall recently took an unofficial visit to Ball State. It didn't take him long to realize he liked what he saw.
"I visited Ball State a couple of weeks ago and met the coaches and fell in love with the place," Stovall said. "The gym is awesome and the coaching staff is great. It's a family environment kind of thing."
Stovall said he considered offers from Wright State, Butler, Indiana State, Wichita State and Evansville. Kent State was recruiting him but didn't offer.
Until Payton shines at Ball State, he'll always be remembered as the guy who gunned down the mighty Atlanta Celtics at the Big Time. "That was a fun game," Stovall said. "It was just clicking. I felt like I couldn't miss." 29 points and an upset win later; it's safe to say he didn't miss much.
"Ball State is close to home and I wanted to stay around here a little bit," Stovall said. "They recruited me hard. It seemed like the place to go."
Last year, Stovall averaged 20.1 points a game.
