2008 Introduction: Colin Chieverton

Colin Chieverton, a talented junior wing from Northern California, tells us that he's hearing from schools in the Pac-10, WCC, Big 12 and Big 12 confereces. He says a couple schools are currently at the top of his list...

Colin Chieverton, 6-5 JR SF San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty, is a talented scorer with a very good basketball body. He has a chance to be among the top small forwards in the west.

We spoke with Chieverton recently and he listed the schools that he currently has interest in.

"Arizona State, Pepperdine, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Gonzaga, Cal, Marquette, Sand Diego State and Loyola Marymount," said Chieverton.

When asked if any school stands out for him at this time, Chieverton replied, "probably Oklahoma and Marquette. "I've had a chance to watch some of their games on television and I like what they do on offense and their emphasis on defense."

We asked Chieverton about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.

"Academics are a big thing for me and my family," said Chieverton. "The location is kind of a big thing for my parents, but it is the right fit I can go anywhere. Playing time is not such a big thing, especially in my freshman year, but I would like to maybe get major minutes in the three years after my freshman year."

Chieverton won't be making a decision anytime soon.

"My Mom won't let me commit until I take my official visits," said Chieverton. "She wants me to take my visits and then decide before my senior season."

Chieverton told us he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
