White Has a Leader

The hard-to-find but talented wing from Redondo Beach, Wendell White, gives us a long-awaited recruiting update. He says a few west coast schools have offered, but his current leader is a school that's been on him a while...

Wendell White, 6-5 SR SF, Redondo Beach (Calif.) Redondo Union, has been a difficult person to locate this summer. He didn't participate in a shoe camp, and not one west coast camp or tournament. But we finally found him this weekend and got the recruiting scoop.

The school that has been on White for a while has become his leader. "Tennessee is my favorite," White said. "They haven't offered yet, but I like their team and their coaches."

White also listed USC, UCLA, Florida State, Pepperdine and Notre Dame. He said that both his local Los Angeles schools, UCLA and USC, have offered scholarships. "Yeah, USC offered a long time ago. The stacks of mail I have from them is huge. But I just got an offer in the mail from UCLA two weeks ago."

White doesn't have in-home visits or official visits set, but said he's in the process of working them out. He said he'd like to trip to Tennessee, Florida State, UCLA and Notre Dame. When asked if any of the schools had offered trips, White said that a few had.

White said he has a 2.7 GPA and will take the SAT in September. "And I've been studying," he said.
