Williams Heads East

Marcus Williams, a former Crenshaw High point guard who is headed to Oak Hill this year, committed over the weekend. Williams is headed East.

UConn Lands Williams

Steve Smith, the head coach at Oak Hill Academy, confirmed that Top 50 player Marcus Williams is headed to Connecticut.

Williams, a standout with the Southern Cal All-Stars this summer, picked the Huskies over Georgia Tech. His September official visit to Atlanta will not take place.

A Top 50 prospect, Williams has transformed his game from scoring two guard to playmaking point man. He plays under control and with little fear. He can score when he needs but generally makes good decisions with the basketball.

UConn's 2003 recruiting blueprint from day one consisted of a point guard and two big men. Now that Williams is on the books, look for the Huskies to devote the bulk of their time to guys like Brandon Bass, Linas Kleiza, Josh Boone, Longar Longar and Hassan Fofana.

Williams committed after unofficially visiting UConn last weekend.
