2008 Introduction: Jacob Ranger

Jacob Ranger, a 6-4 junior wing from Southern California, hasn't received much recruiting attention yet but he's one of the better wings in the west for 2008. We spoke to him recently and got an update on his recruitment...

Jacob Ranger, 6-4 JR SG Carpenteria (Calif.) High, is one of the better unknown wings in the west for 2008. Ranger has good size and a high skill level.

We spoke with Ranger recently and he listed a few of the schools that have shown early interest in him.

"Loyola Marymount, UC Davis, UC Irvine and Wofford have been the main ones so far," said Ranger. "Davis said they may come out to a game this week."

Ranger talked a little about the factors he'll consider when making his choice.

"The main thing is I'm just trying to get my education," said Ranger. "I'll go anywhere to get a free education."

Ranger said early playing time and location are not important to his choice.

"I'll have to learn my role when I get to college and maybe I would redshirt my first year," said Ranger. "My parents would like to see me on the West Coast so they could watch me play, but I'll go anywhere."

Ranger isn't very far along with the process and doesn't see himself making an early decision.

"I probably will play through the summer and then see what my options are," said Ranger.

Ranger told us he has a GPA of "around 3.3 or 3.4."
