Frazier's Recruitment Taking Shape

Roy Skyler Frazier. Ever heard of him? Most likely not. However, he made a name for himself at the Big Time in Las Vegas with the Gateway Basketball Club. "Sky" is in the process of narrowing down his school list.

Frazier Will Take Five Visits

Before July, Southwest Missouri State and Lamar were alone in their pursuit of Sky Frazier. Now, they have company.

The 6-9 Frazier lists SMS, Lamar, Long Beach State, Evansville and Northwestern among his most ardent suitors. Frazier says that he's hearing from Kansas State and Kent State but neither have offered scholarships.

"We've actually had to turn some schools down," Frazier said. "We're in the process of having five to six schools." He says he's not sure what to do with K-State and Kent State since they haven't offered and he's going to start setting up his official visits.

Frazier's play with the Gateway team at the Big Time really drew attention to him. "July was a huge part of my recruiting process. Partially because I played so well in Vegas. That's mainly why.

"I just love to go out there and play against the top players in the nation and see what they have. I always knew that I wasn't that bad of a player. People start downgrading you and then you think these guys are a lot better than I am but I just never really thought that.

"I love better competition. I just love playing against those guys that are going to the Duke's and the North Carolina's. They think they are better than you but they're not. I just love it."

Given his current list of schools, Frazier could be a real steal for one of those programs. Last year, he averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds a game.
