2008 Introduction: Ryan Kelley

Ryan Kelley, a 6-2 combo guard from Ayala in Southern California, is drawing early interest from schools in the Pac-10, Western Athletic Conference and West Coast Conference, among other programs.....

Ryan Kelley, 6-2 JR SG/PG Chino Hills (Calif.) Ayala, is a versatile prospect with a good frame and solid skills. While we previously had him as a point guard, we now believe he'll likely play the two, with a chance to play some back-up minutes at the point. He's got a good feel for the game and generally makes good decisions.

We spoke with Kelley recently and he gave us a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"Nevada, Stanford, Arizona, Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount have been the main ones," said Kelley. "Pepperdine came out to my school and so did Loyola Marymount. Nevada and Stanford have both been calling my school and talking with my coach."

Kelley talked a little about the issues that will affect his choice.

"I want to play in an up-tempo system that complements my game," said Kelley. "The right system and fit is important. I'd like to stay in the west – I'm not looking to go east. Early playing time would be nice, especially as a freshman, but I'm really looking for the right fit."

Kelley is not very deep into the process yet and hasn't seen many schools.

"I've only been to Pepperdine unofficially," said Kelley. "I definitely would like to visit Stanford, Nevada and Arizona."

Kelley told us he has a timeframe in mind for making his decision.

"I'd like to decide after the summer, before my senior year," said Kelley.

Kelley told us he has a 3.7 GPA and he'll take the SAT in March.
