The 6-foot-6 Louisiana native, who committed to Louisville a little more than two years ago, has opted to re-open his recruitment.
``It was a mutual decision," Montverde (Fla.) Academy coach Kevin Sutton said. "They had some immediate needs that they had to address."
``The Walker's – Larry and Martez – felt that it was in their best interest to open it back up because he's just a junior," added Sutton.
Sutton said that Walker is still interested in Louisville, but he will explore other options as well.
Sutton said that Walker has started to round out his game while coming off the bench as the team's sixth-man.
``We play four perimeter players and he plays the four," Sutton said. "He's playing well and is the consummate sixth-man. He comes off the bench and does a little bit of everything."
Walker is averaging 9.4 points and six boards per game this season for Montverde, which is a perfect 23-0 this year.
``We're very balanced, so that's probably equal to averaging about 18 on another team.
``Martez has really bought into playing defense and being a stopper," Sutton added. "He can defend four positions on the floor and he gives us so much versatility. He's bought into not having to be the person to do it all. He's sacrificed himself for the betterment of the team."
