Spencer Has Admirers

Waiting until the spring and being one of the best available point guards has its benefits. Bo Spencer out of Louisiana is receiving plenty of attention these days.

Last spring, Bo Spencer came out of the Kingwood Classic regarded as one of those hidden gem point guards. A 6-foot-1 player who could score, the Baton Rouge (La.) Glen Oaks senior was pretty hot.

By his standards, the accompanying summer wasn't nearly as hot and the early signing period came and passed for a guard capable of making a mid-major splash at the least. Now as we steam toward the spring period, Spencer is getting 21 points a game and once again he's microwaved his recruitment.

On Wednesday night, the Connecticut Huskies were in to see him perform. Though he's yet to take visits, Spencer is forming a list. UConn and Mississippi have shown mutual interest and rank high on his list of favorites. Old Dominion is right there too and Virginia and Miami-FL, according to Spencer, always send mail.

Spencer indicated that he may visit Mississippi by month's end and would like to trip to Storrs in February.

All the schools see Spencer in the same light. "They're recruiting me as a point guard. I like the point but I can also shoot it. Almost all the colleges recruiting me say they're going to use me as a scoring point."
