2008 Introduction: James Rahon

College coaches are always looking for shooters and junior shooting guard James Rahon is one of the better shooters in the west for 2008. Rahon told us recently that he's drawing early interest from some schools in the Pac-10, WCC and Mountain West, among others...

James Rahon, 6-2 JR SG Encinitas (Calif.) Torrey Pines, is an excellent shooter with range beyond the stripe. Rahon has a solid feel for the game and has made good decisions in the games we've watched him.

We spoke with Rahon the other day and he gave us a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"Washington State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego, San Diego State, Santa Clara, Penn, Bucknell and Portland State," said Rahon.

Rahon talked a little about the things he's looking for in a college.

"A good school, playing time...somewhere that I like the coaches," said Rahon. "Location doesn't really matter -- I'm looking for the best overall fit."

We asked Rahon if had a favorite school growing up.

"Probably UCLA or USC," said Rahon.

When questioned about the schools that are recruiting him the hardest, Rahon replied, "Washington State, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara and San Diego are probably recruiting me the hardest right now."

Rahon has been on unofficial visits to San Diego and Loyola Marymount.

"I'm going to San Diego State next week for the game against Air Force," said Rahon. "And Washington State wants me to come up on an unofficial."

Rahon told us he has a 3.3 GPA and hopes to make a decision before his senior season.
