2009 Focus: Naji Hibbert

St. Frances has a squad this season and should be in good shape for the next two years as Naji Hibbert is on board until 2009.

Naji Hibbert, a 6-foot-4 sophomore wing player out of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances, has begun the process of playing in front of college coaches. Hibbert told Scout.com that Marist has offered him. He's receiving interest from Syracuse, Maryland, Connecticut, Clemson and Virginia; each has seen him this season.

"I'm texting with them a lot," Hibbert said.

So far, the season has been productive for Hibbert. By the way, we asked him about the last name he shares with a big time center for the Hoyas, Roy Hibbert. "We don't know (if we're related)," Hibbert said. "They're from Silver Spring, we're from Maryland. We don't know. We've never got into it. We talk about it sometimes though."

Naji Hibbert is averaging 12 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 4 steals playing alongside 2008 standout Sean Mosley. He'll run with Team Melo this spring and should be one of the standouts on the 16-and-under squad.

"I haven't defined my position right now. I see myself as a kind of lead guard, a combo guard. That's how I play."
