Martin Set To Take Trip

Isaiah Martin is taking his first official visit this weekend. Will it be the Chi-Town forward's last?

Size is at a premium these days on the recruiting trail and Chicago Morgan Park's Isaiah Martin has it. At 6-foot-8, Martin is set to take his first official visit this weekend.

Martin will visit the Evansville Purple Aces. He's been to elite camps at Bradley and Illinois State and has seen Northwestern play twice this season but Evansville is his first official trip.

Martin is happy that he elected to let the initial signing period pass him by. "There were a few schools showing a lot of interest but I wanted to wait it out and check out some more colleges. Now that I've waited Northwestern has jumped in the mix and the other day the Wisconsin coach was in the gym. I wasn't sure if he was there for me or not. Simeon's guys had pretty much signed so he must have been there for me.

"I just wanted to wait it out and see if I could get some good looks."

Martin is gearing up for a big game this weekend that should go a long way in positioning for the post season.

"I've been having a pretty good year. As a team we're 15-7 and second in conference. (Friday) we play a team (Julian) that has the same record as us. We win and we'll have a pretty high playoff seed. I've had a pretty good year."

Central Florida, SMU, UTEP along with Bradley and Illinois State have shown interest.
