September promises to be a busy month in the recruiting world, with prospects lining up in-homes and official visits. Here are the latest bits of news that we've picked up in the last week or so.
The Oregon Ducks are looking to give out three scholarships this year and they have a couple busy weekends coming up. On the weekend of Sept. 20th, Oregon will have Aaron Brooks, Mitch Platt, Ray Schafer and Sean Phaler in for official visits. The following weekend, the Ducks have Liam Hughes, Carl Marshall (Chicago PG) and Trevor Ariza taking official trips.
Speaking of the Ducks and Aaron Brooks, we're hearing that the West Coast's #3 ranked PG had a very good unofficial visit to Oregon this past weekend. Brooks has already taken an official trip to UCLA, and he plans on taking a trip to Washington, but we continue to believe that Oregon is the school to beat in this recruitment.
Another Pac-10 school with a big recruiting weekend coming up is Arizona St. The Sun Devils will have Tron Smith (already committed), Lorenzo Wade, Mitch Platt and Brett Collins on campus this weekend for official visits.
Ekene Ibekwe, the #2 ranked power forward in the west, has lined up a couple official visits. Ibekwe will visit national champion Maryland the weekend of September 13th and he plans to be in Kansas on October 11th for Midnight Madness.
Maurice Shaw is on the move again. The talented post player is now reportedly back at Lincoln High in Tacoma, (Wash.).
Former West Coast high school players Jameel Pugh and E.J. Harris have transferred to Sacramento St. Pugh was at UMass, while Harris is coming in from Washington St.
Brice Prather was going to walk on at Cal this year, but we hear he's left Cal and will instead play at Azusa Pacific.
Finally, we're hearing that Kerry Woolridge is receiving some interest from San Diego St. and possibly Minnesota. Also, senior post Gary Hamilton has committed to Miami.
